Gwich'in Social & Cultural Institute
The Gwich’in Social and Cultural Institute is the cultural arm of the Gwich’in Tribal Council that also includes the Gwich’in Language Centre that is responsible for the Gwich’in Language Plan and the development of language resource material for Gwich’in language teachers.
Since the GSCI was established in 1993 with the mandate “to document, preserve, and promote the practice of Gwich’in culture, language, traditional knowledge and values”. GSCI has interviewed our Gwich’in elders in our communities for various projects every year about their life and experience on the Land.
